Fresh Eyes Digital’s Holiday Giving Guide: Nonprofits We Support This Season

At Fresh Eyes Digital, we’re all about helping nonprofits build stronger, more meaningful relationships with their supporters. This holiday season, we’re taking that mission to heart in our own way by highlighting the causes that inspire each of us. We’re proud to support nonprofits working toward a better future, both through our work and in our personal lives. Check out our team’s picks below—and remember, the best gift is a monthly gift!

Nonprofits We Personally Support:

Jenn:

Green City Market – I’ve been involved with this organization since 2009 and was the board chair for the last 6 years. I’m passionate about supporting local farmers and ensuring that they have the resources they need to survive climate change and anything else that is thrown their way!

Rachel:

Our Climate. After sitting on the board of this youth-centered climate organization for several years, I can tell you that their creativity and dedication gives me hope even amidst a deeply scary outlook for climate.

Thelma:

I’ve personally consolidated my smaller monthly gifts into a local giving circle. I’ve been part of Oakland Women for Good since it started in March 2023, and between the 75 or so fluctuating members we’ve turned quarterly donations into over $45,000 in support to small, local organizations in Oakland. It feels incredible to take our small gifts and amplify them into unexpected and unrestricted funds for nonprofits who can turn that into immediate action in our communities. Some of the nonprofits we have supported include Community Education Partnerships (this is one that I pitched!), Seen52, Magnolia Womens Recovery Program, and Living Jazz.

Check out a giving circle near you, it’s also been a great way to just meet like-minded people and get to know local organizations in my community. As I look ahead at the next couple of years, something I know I can do is surround myself with good people who are ready to take an active part in helping folks in need.

With the increasing consolidation and hollowing out of local newsrooms and corporatization of terrestrial radio, it feels more important than ever to support public media. I’m a monthly donor to WDET, an incredible NPR station based out of Wayne State University in Detroit that recently increased its music programming (running the gamut from indie rock to jazz and local techno) along with existing local and syndicated news programming. I’ve discovered a lot of great new music when tuning in, and I am so grateful for their focus on local arts and culture at a time when we need it the most.

Ilana:

The DC LGBTQ+ Community Center – Accessible and welcome community spaces are more important than ever, and the DC LGBTQ+ Community Center provides so much – support groups, free HIV/AIDS testing, a clothing closet, a food pantry, just to list a few. In the next four years and beyond, it’s critical that spaces like these not only exist, but continue to grow and thrive.

Erin:
Hallie Q. Brown Community Center | Community Center Since 1929, the Lighthouse of the Community

In my neighborhood, Hallie Q Brown Community Center not only provides a free, safe place for kids to come and be after school, but is an enormous resource in providing food and supplies to help minimize food insecurity for local families. Located in a culturally significant area of St. Paul, the Rondo neighborhood, Hallie Q Brown has been a significant presence in our community since 1929.

This season, Fresh Eyes is inspired by the incredible work of nonprofits in our communities and beyond. If you’re looking for ways to give back, explore the organizations we’ve shared or find causes close to your heart. if your nonprofit is ready to grow, connect with us at Fresh Eyes Digital—we’d love to help you engage your supporters and raise more money online.
