Meet the Freshie: Bettina Ramón

In the latest edition of Meet the Freshies, get to know FED Senior Consultant Bettina Ramón. Bettina has worked in-house as a nonprofit communicator and fundraiser and as a digital fundraising consultant for nearly 15 years. Learn more about what she does at FED — and what makes her tick — below!

How long have you worked at Fresh Eyes Digital? What’s your role here?

I’ve worked two separate stints at Fresh Eyes – first in 2016, during FED’s earliest days, to provide content support while Jenn was on maternity leave. I returned again in 2021. Between working as an independent consultant and a full-time Freshie, it’s been a little more than four years. And I’m a senior strategist, but I also lead FED’s own digital marketing efforts!

What are your top three favorite vacation spots?

This is a toughie! There are so many places I still want to see and so many places I already love, but here are three of my favorites:

1. Emilia Romagna, Italy. This region is the birthplace of so many foods (and wine) I love. My time there was as much a feast for my eyes as it was my palette. I can’t wait to go back again someday!
2. Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. The Yucatán is far more magical than the tequila-guzzling spring break in Cancun stereotypes and generic all-inclusive resorts suggest. The Sian Ka’an biosphere – a UNESCO world heritage site – is one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve ever been. I also love the cenotes, the rich Mayan and Indigenous archaeological history, the local cuisine, and the beaches (of course).
3. Park City, Utah. My partner is originally from Salt Lake City, and over the years, I’ve begun to appreciate more and more just how gorgeous and restorative Park City is to me. Whether they’re covered with summer wildflowers, freshly fallen snow, or fall foliage, the staggering Wasatch mountain range, just like so many other breathtaking natural wonders in Utah, is truly postcard-worthy.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I didn’t really have one singular vision of a grown-up career for myself– but over the course of my childhood, I wanted to be a librarian, a veterinarian, a singer (ha!), and a writer.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Count me in with the Pedro Pascal fans. Not only is he a real cutie, he’s also an active and vocal LGBTQ+ advocate and apparently has great taste in music to boot. Perhaps most importantly, though, he answered this question correctly. (As a native Texan, I have strong opinions about this.)

Are you a dog person? A cat person? Neither?

I’m not NOT a dog person, I’ve just never had a dog. But I’ve learned as an adult that I’m definitely a cat person. ☺️ I’ve had my 17-year-old cat Henry since he was just a few weeks old. At the time, choosing a cat was a practical choice (I was in grad school and was on campus all day!). But he is the sweetest, bestest boy, and my favorite furbaby companion.
